Working with Boaters and Marine Trades for Cleaner Washington Water

First week(s) in review

A few thoughts from the first few weeks as the new Program Manager for the Clean Boating Foundation…

Meeting with Clean Boating community members such as George Harris of the NMTA and Andy Gregory of the Puget Sound Keeper Alliance, has confirmed the important role the Clean Boating foundation plays in the boating community.  It is also becoming quite clear there is a need for a consolidated clean boating resource for boaters.  In addition to the Clean Boating Foundation, there are other organizations such as the Clean Marina Program (http://www.cleanmarinawashington.org/) and the Washington State Sea Grant Program (http://www.wsg.washington.edu/); each bring a unique aspect of clean boating to the table.  In the weeks to come, the focus will be on certifying clean boat yards, promoting the use of non-copper bottom paint, AND communicating with other clean boating related organizations; working towards a consolidated resource.
